Jacob Kirkegaard cultivates an alchemical approach to art and knows how to make complex phenomena tangible by means of composition, installation, video and photography. Based on scientific zeal, his depictions do not provide answers, however, but create space for reflection. The sound works of the Dane, born in 1975, focus on the unheard: for example, he has captured and researched the sounds of volcanic earth, ice, atmospheric phenomena, nuclear power plants and abandoned places. He is a founding member of the sound art collective freq_out.
