The Zurich artist, researcher and composer Marcus Maeder (*1979) studied fine arts at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and philosophy at the University of Hagen and is currently writing his doctoral thesis in environmental systems science at ETH Zurich. Since 2005 he has been working as a curator and research assistant at the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology at ZHdK, where he researches acoustic ecology and the representation of data in sounds. In his artistic work, he is particularly interested in the question of how phenomena in nature that are normally imperceptible can be made tangible in artistic form. For example, processes in connection with climate change or environmental destruction.
