Berlin-based Japanese multimedia artist Ryoichi Kurokawa (* 1978) is one of the pioneers of digital audiovisual art. His work has won several awards and includes sound installations, sound recordings and concerts. With the help of various media, field recordings and digitally reconstructed structures, Kurokawa combines sound and image in his artistic work to create unique three-dimensional "time sculptures". His creative research aims at a symbiosis of nature and technology, chaos and order. Ryoichi Kurokawa's works are shown in renowned art institutions and festivals around the world, including the Centre Pompidou Paris, the 54th Venice Biennale, transmedial in Berlin and Ars Electronica in Linz.
