Use of the moorland, past and present
How did people come to settle in moorland? How have the moors been used over the millennia? What role do they play in agriculture today? And how can the protection of moorland landscapes be reconciled with their function as local recreation areas? Input presentations by Heidi Eisenhut (historian, Head of the Cantonal Library of Appenzell Ausserrhoden), Andreas Frey (Managing Director of Appenzellerland Tourism) and the white cooper and farmer Hans Mösli from Rhode Rietli-Schachen, Gais. Moderation: Christof Dietler (Engineer-Agronomist ETH, co-owner of the marketing agency pluswert). Followed by an audience discussion.
