Last Rural Effort

The Valencia-based artist duo Peter Bosch (*1958) and Simone Simons (*1961) have been developing autonomous dynamic music machines since the 1990s. The work they are showing at Museum Gais is a new piece in their series «Último Esfuerzo Rural» (Last Rural Effort), which they began in 2017. These are room-filling kinetic sound installations for which they use everyday objects found on site − in the case of Gais: metal containers ranging from milking buckets to watering cans. They arrange these found objects into whimsical ensembles, set them into vibration and create a surprising sound collage. They thus continue the series of works in which they transform the characteristics and history of objects that are characteristic of a region into a sculptural sound image.
