The Shack

The Solothurn sound artist Flo Kaufmann (*1973) describes himself as a "bricoleur universel". As a trained electrical engineer, he has in-depth knowledge and understanding of the world of sounds, be they acoustic or electronically generated. He works with obsolete sound recording technologies and disused electrical appliances to create fantastic sound machines and bizarre instruments. In his work "The Shack", he explores the electromagnetic fields around Gais by installing a conglomeration of wave catchers, receivers, antennas and devices, thus making hidden signals and fields of action audible and tangible.
